We have weekly toddler storytimes for many reasons – it helps develop language and thinking skills, increases a child’s vocabulary, and promotes imagination and creativity.
But there’s another reason … it’s fun!
Yesterday we had an extra special outdoor storytime. We crossed our fingers that the rain would hold off, and it did! First Miss Brett gathered the group outside the children’s wing and read books about Easter eggs and bunnies, a hint at what was to come.
Then the Easter Bunny appeared, with a surprise: a live bunny, loaned to us for the day from Orschlen’s Farm & Home store! (Thanks, guys!) The kids had a marvelous time holding, petting, and taking their pictures with him, and although he seemed rather exhausted after all the fun was over, this bunny clearly had just the right kind of personality to handle a lot of attention.
And I’ll let you in on a secret: it’s not just the kids who have fun. Ask the librarian who dressed up as the Easter bunny, or the ones who flew around last minute hiding the eggs, or the one who wrangled the live rabbit. We’ll tell you the same thing: we had fun too.
Join us every Wednesday at 10:00 am: bring the kids, bring your imagination, and be ready to have a good time!
